Norma Irene Berger, age 86 a longtime Cleveland resident, passed away on January 20, 2010 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home, Cleveland. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. , Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Church of Christ in Cleveland . Doug Dingley will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland . Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Norma was born on December 9, 1923 in Hallett , Oklahoma to the late Neal and Eva (Hager) Vaughan. She grew up and attended school in Hallett and Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1942. Norma married the love of her life, Vernon Berger on October 6, 1942 in Cleveland . Their first child, Bryce, was born on their first anniversary. They moved to northern California in Arcata in 1946 where they made their home. They owned and operated the V and N Burger Bar from 1964 until their retirement in 1980. They also owned and operated the Hardware, Feed and Seed in Arcata. They were members of the Eureka Church of Christ. After their retirement in 1980, they moved back to Cleveland . She enjoyed canning, cooking and baking. She liked to make quilts and give them to family and many friends. She loved taking care of her family. Norma is survived by her husband Vernon of the home, sons Bryce Berger and wife Sue Ann of Cleveland, David Berger of Cleveland, daughters Donna House and husband Corky of Cleveland, Barbara Turner and husband Frank of Yale, brother Warren Vaughan of Tulsa, grandchildren Ted Berger and wife Mindy, Denise Berger, Renee Berger, Tara Berger, Christina Winikoff and husband Jeffery, Lynette Basnett, Tonya Risewick and husband Steven, Jason Paul and wife Shari, 8 great grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters: Ruth Vaughan, Roscoe Vaughan, Marie Widel, Virgil Vaughan, Elsie Dobson and John Vaughan.
