OTTUMWA - Burl Haney,75, of 11482 Rutledge Road died Sept 12, 2002 at Vista Woods Care Center of prostate and bone cancer.

He was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Davis County to Glen and Dorothy Miller Haney. He married Betty Ireland Dec. 22, 1951 in Missouri.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had worked for John Morrell for 29 years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1989. He was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple, the American Legion and NARFE.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Calvin Haney of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Carl Haney of Des Moines, two daughters, Cathy Glosser of Bellingham, Wash. and Carolyn DeHamer of Cedar, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ralph Haney of Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ottumwa Baptist Temple with Pastor Randy Miller officiating.

Visitation wil be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Shrine of Memories Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Ottumwa Baptist Temple or Hospice.
