Helmut Poenitz, 86, a resident of La Vernia, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002.
On Dec. 10, 1941, he married Annie Mae Brietzke.
Mr. Poenitz was a farmer and a rancher. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Preceded in death by: parents, Bruno Karl and Rosa Henrietta (Vorpahl) Poenitz; brother, Herman Poenitz; sisters Hulda Brietzke, Lydia Poenitz, Thusnelda Dunks, and Nona Belz.
Survivors include: wife, Annie Mae Poenitz; daughter, Caroline Ratliff (John); son, Floyd Jay Poenitz; brother, Nowald Poenitz; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, in the Finch Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jerry Bandy and Pastor Steve Poenitz officiating.
Interment will follow in the Post Oak Cemetery in Seguin.
