Death of Mrs. O. W. Gowen

Evangeline Dewey was born in Otterville, Illinois, November 8, 1860, and died in her home at Ong, Nebraska, December 17, 1927, age 67 years, one month and nine days. She came to Nebraska at the age of ten years and lived in Clay County from that time until the day of her death.

She was married to Oliver Whitten Gowen at Edgar, Nebraska, March 19, 1876. To this union was born four children, Elmer Gowen, Edith Smith, Elva Swanson and Dollie Bicker all of whom are living near Ong.

For several years they homesteaded near Edgar, in 1901 they moved to Ong, Nebraska, where they have since made their home. She united with Methodist Episcopal Church in Ong April 3, 1910, under the ministry of Rev A. M. Steele.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, four children, 19 grandchildren, one half- sister and four half-brothers and a host of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Gowen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Ong March 19, 1926.
