Mr. Gene Ware

Funeral Services for Mr. Gene Ware, 79, of Climax, GA will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Climax Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Poppell, Rev. Johnny Thomas and Rev. Kenneth Cloud officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Joey Edwards, Dennis Poppell, Ron Betts, Michael Betts, Roger McMillan and Mike Gainous serving as pallbearers. The Climax Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Climax Baptist Church.

Mr. Ware passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA Saturday, April 25, 2009 surrounded by his family and friends. The family ask in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to your favorite charity or organization. He was born in Quincy, FL, to the late John and Alice Knight Ware. He was parts manager for M & M Tractor Co. in Quincy for nineteen years, and started Ware's Auto and Farm Supply in Climax in 1978. He retired in 2000 and learned how to operate a computer and then he enjoyed emailing friends and family. He was an original member of the Climax Grand Ole Opry as Roy Acuff and was a member of the Golden Agers. He loved his family and meeting people. He was a deacon of Climax Baptist Church and had led singing at Santa Clara Baptist Church in Quincy, FL and at Climax Baptist Church for forty eight years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Joyce Betts Ware of Climax; one son; Allen (wife Flecia) Ware of Bainbridge; two granddaughters; Tracy (husband Charlie) Fitzgerald of Climax and Amy (husband Joey) Thomas of Climax; five great grandchildren; Madison, Bailey, Allie Grace, Carter and Sam; and one brother Carl Ware of Sneads, FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Wilda Abney and Mary Finuff; and three brothers J. S. (Shay) Ware, J.P. Ware, and Lloyd Ware.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Climax Baptist Church
