She was born April 26, 1931 in LaJara, Colorado, to William Grover and Clara Adella (Shawcroft) DeGolyer. She attended school in Alamosa, Colorado, and graduated in 1950. While in school she played the trombone in the band. She married Raymond Dale Catlin on September 2, 1950 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2005.

The couple moved to Lawton in 1950 and in 1951 celebrated the birth of their first and only daughter, Catherine Ann. They moved to Colorado for a few years and returned to Lawton in 1955.

She had attended Lawton Business College and had worked as a telephone operator at Fort Sill. She worked as a secretary for A1 Moving and Storage and for Dr. Gilbert C. Gibson at his dental practice and later for Tri Check Distribution Company and the Citizen's Bank and Financial Centre. She retired in 1996.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held various positions including Primary President. She had performed temple work in Dallas and Oklahoma City. She was a member of the Lawton Business and Professional Women's Association as well as both the Oklahoma State and Lawton Firefighter Ladies Auxiliaries.
She loved children, her church and her family and would never turn down an opportunity to babysit.

She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Catherine Catlin and Steve McVey, Phoenix, Arizona; two sons and daughters in law, Rick and Shirley Carson Catlin and Mike and Donna Catlin, all of Lawton; seven grandchildren, Chris McVey, Timothy McVey and Elizabeth McVey White, all of Phoenix, Arizona, Rachel, Corey and Alyssa Catlin, all of Lawton, and Brandon Thibodeaux, Joliet, Illinois; three great grandchildren, Sara McVey and Lydia White, both of Phoenix, and Josiah Thibodeaux, Joliet; two brothers and sisters in law, Larry and Judy DeGolyer, Grand Junction, Colorado, and James and Betty Jean DeGolyer, LaJara, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Seaburg, and a grandson, Kevin McVey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 5400 N. Grand Blvd, Suite 255, Oklahoma City OK 73112 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family will greet friends both Wednesday and Thursday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Services will be 10am Friday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Clyde Page officiating. Mrs. Catlin died Saturday in Lawton. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
