Earl Crowder Hastings, 62, 1 33rd Degree Mason and fraternal leader died in a hospital Wednesday at 9:45 p.m.
He was the husband of Mrs. Omea Hinson Hastings and son of Mrs. Beulah Capps Hastings and the late Percy C. Hastings.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he lived at 9545 Selby Place. He was a member of Miles Memorial Methodist Church, and was a retired engineer of Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 28 years of service.
He was a member of Ocean View Masonic Lodge 335, Norfolk United Royal Arch Chapter 1, Norfolk Consistory, Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Temple of the Shrine and Royal Order of Scotland.
He was a past master of the lodge of Perfection, past wise master of the Rose Croux, past commander of the Kadosh, and past venerable master of Norfolk Consistory.
He was head of the Shrine and Bugle Corps of Khedive Temple 15 years, and was a knight commander of the Court of Honor of his 33rd Scottish Rite Degree in March , 1963.
Besides his widow and mother, he is survived by two sons, Earl C. Hastings, Jr. of Newport News and the Rev. Robert C. Hastings of Richmond; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Friday at 1 p.m., by the Rev. W. W. McIntyre of Miles Memorial Methodist Church. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
