"Cecile L. Oakes, 82, Kingman, died at 11:10 p.m. December 16, 1994 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Sager Campus, Danville, Illinois. She was born February 26, 1912 in Tuscola, Illinois, the daughter of Asa and Daisy Handley Crossman. She was married to Anthony A. Oakes, June 29, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded in death December 10, 1994.

She was a 1933 graduate of Tuscola High School, Tuscola, Illinois. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Kingman Community Church. She was founder and president of Kingman Senior Citizens. She was a member of Fountain County Home Economics Club. She was a 4-H leader in Kingman and Cates communities. She loved to sew, quilt and take care of her flowers. Most of all, she was known for her loving disposition.

Surviving are: a son, Harold Gene (Sherry) Oakes, Veedersburg; a daughter, Dana B. (Gerald) Harvey, Wallace; three grandchildren, Mike Harvey, Wallace, Mark Harvey, Terre Haute, Wanda S. Nelson, Las Vegas, Nevada; five great-grandchildren; seven step Great-Grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Thomas, LaGrange, Illinois, Dana (Lowell) Woodall, Villa Grove, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Kingman Community Church, Kingman, with the Rev. Glenn Ray officiating. Visitation will be after noon today (Tuesday) at Kingman Community Church until the hour of service. Burial will be in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, Kingman. DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga, is in charge of arrangements. Family requests contributions can be made to the Kingman Community Church or Community Hospital, Home Health Care Unit, 412 N.
