He was born in the Dabney community on December 25,1911; the son of the late George W. and Minnie Phelps Aker.He was a farmer and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church -where he was a deacon and a Sundy school teacher for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Hunter Aker, whom he married in East Somerset on June 17,1931; five sons, George William,Stephen Hunter,Joe Allen,Rev.David Douglas and Michael Dale;two daughters Emily Ester Kaelin and Mary Catherine David; three sisters Bessie Hubble,Ruth Whitis and Helen Watson;18 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents;a daughter Judy Ellen Aker; two brothers Dr.John Raymond And James Oren Aker;a sister Elenor Bryant and a grandson Scott Anthony Kaelin.
Services were held at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co.with the Revs. Eddie Miller and Vincent Carman officiating.
Burial was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
