ALVIN DUANE FERGUSON Sr.

Alvin Duane Ferguson Sr., 82, of Albany, died Jan. 12, 2010, at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 20, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with graveside and military honor guard to follow at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. cemetery.
He was born in Lynch, Neb., to Lee and Francis (Sedivy) Ferguson. The family moved to the Golden Valley area near Lebanon, Later they moved to the Hamilton Creek area.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and obtained the rank of Seaman First Class.
He married Evelyn Maxine Gates, of Waterloo, on Oct. 29, 1947. They raised five boys. They spent most of their married lives in the Lebanon-Albany area.
He worked for several local mills before starting a 27-year career with the Oregon State Highway Dept. He retired as a maintenance foreman on June 30, 1989.
He is survived by sons Alvin D. Ferguson Jr. of Lapine, Glen L. Ferguson of Lapine, Larry D. Ferguson of Aumsville, David C. Ferguson of Albany, Stanley D. Ferguson of Albany; sister Lorraine (Ferguson) Blanshan of Lebanon; grandchildren Jason, Gerald, Steven, Shannan, Teresa, Amy and Jeremy; and nine great-grandchildren.
His wife Evelyn Maxine, grandson Robert S. Ferguson and brother Elmer Ferguson died before.
