Gilbert passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 24, 2010 at home in the presence of his loving family. He grew up in Port Arthur and Groves, Texas where he resided for most of his life. A graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School in 1956,he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1957 and served in the Strategic Air Command until his discharge after serving a full 4 year enlistment. He also served his country, prior to his enlistment in the Air Force (1955-1957) in the Texas National Guard (111th Engr. Bn, 36th Inf Div). He and Patricia Lucille Roberts were married on October 11, 1958 in Groves. After his discharge he was employed at Atlantic Refining (later Fina) in Port Arthur where he remained until his retirement in May of 1996. Gilbert and Pat remained in Groves until 2003 when they moved to Carthage, Texas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3491 in Groves. He was also an active member and official in OCAW Local 4-23. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister,
