Eliza Wilkinson, wife of the late Sylvester Cunningham, died Tuesday afternoon, May 31, at 5 o'clock, aged 85 years, two months and two days. She was born in Aurora, N.Y., in 1813, and was married in 1835. In 1856, with their children, they came here and purchased a farm near Republic. Since the death of her husband in 1883, she has resided here with her daughter, Mrs. Helen J. Beard. Mrs. Beard is the only member of the family here. Her grandson, Frank L. Anway, is a member of Co. E, Second regiment, now stationed at Chickamauga park. Charles M. resides at Osborne, Kansas, and her grandson, Vernon Cunningham, is Captain of Co. L, of the Kansas National Guard, and expects orders at any time to march with his company for the seat of war. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Helen J. Beard, Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. Mrs.
Cunningham has long been a resident of Republic and has hosts of friends to mourn her death. She was a loving mother and kind friend to all.
