Evelyn N. Burch, 96, Avon, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, at 5:06 p.m. at the Avon Nursing Home.

She was born June 22, 1911, in Avon, the daughter of Everett and Clara (Stannard) Niles. She married Donald H. Herndon July 26, 1943, in Abingdon. He preceded her in death Sept. 25, 1947. She later married Claude R. (Bud) Burch Dec. 11, 1948, in Kewanee. He died July 27, 1977.

She is survived by one niece Martha Orwig, Avon; one great-nephew, Robert Orwig, Avon; one great-niece, Elizabeth Lopez, Avon, whom all cared for her in later years; and one cousin, Beverly Richter, Galesburg.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and her parents.

She was born and reared in Avon where she had lived her entire life. She taught in rural schools around Avon and taught in her later years at Avon School District.

She was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed quilting, rug braiding and other crafts. She also enjoyed playing bridge.

She was a member of the Avon Universalist Church.

Services were held Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Corman Memorial Home in Avon.

Burial was in Avon Cemetery, Avon.
