Velmer "Zero" Burton

Velmer "Zero" Burton, 94, Russell Springs, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Russell County Hospital.

He was born in Russell County May 12, 1915 to the late Theona Sullivan Burton and the late William Howard Burton.
He was a farmer.

He is survived by Avis (H. Earl) McLean, Columbia, KY; one son Travis McElroy, Nashville, TN; two daughters-in-law Velma Burton and Phyllis Burton, both of Russell Springs; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 20 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons Bobby Dale Burton, and Jerry Dean Burton; two grandchildren Jeffrey S. McLean, and Theresa M. Bailey; a daughter-in-law Betty McElroy; four sisters; and eleven brothers.

Service were held Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Hadley and Bro. Billy Dunbar officiating. Special music was provided by Rita Curry.

Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eric Bennett, Brian Norton, Kevin Stephens, Brian Stephens, Adam Black, Jeremy Burton, and Jamison Cooper.

Bernard Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
