Bernard A. "Bernie" Bean - MACON- Bernard A. "Bernie" Bean, loyal son of his native Maine for 79 years, died at his Macon home January 25, 2010. Mr. Bean was born in Gorham, Maine, the son of Frank L. and Elizabeth Newcomb Bean and met his wife of 54 years, Lena Chapman Bean, while serving in the United States Air Force at Robins AFB. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bean is survived by a... Mr. Bean was the youngest of twelve brothers and sisters, all whom predeceased him, and was a member of the Mayflower Society and Riverside United Methodist church. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was a loving husband and grandfather, an avid hunter and fisherman, an excellent woodworker, a fine craftsman of ship models, a stamp collector and a regular attendee at the McDonald's coffee club and our family's only true "Mainiac".
