Charles J. "Chuck" Penich, 81, of New Derry, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Loyalhanna Care Center, Derry Township. He was born Feb. 19, 1925, in New Derry, a son of the late Steve and Anna Marie Stumpick Penich.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by Vulcan Mold, Latrobe, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Martin Roman Catholic Church of New Derry, Latrobe Elks and the American Legion. Chuck enjoyed golf and driving truck.
Chuck is survived by two sons, Brian and wife Patricia, Millwood, and Roger, West Derry; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia, New Derry, and Rose Strbak, Blairsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise John Penich; a granddaughter, Jamie Penich; two brothers, Frank Penich and Andy Heimbring; and a sister, Minnie Irwin.
Family and friends were received at the Michael J. Qunilisk Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Thursday in St. Martin Church with the Rev. Martin R. Bartel, O.S.B., as celebrant.
Interment was in St. Martin Cemetery, New Derry.
