Jack O. Richards 1916 ~ 2005
Jack Oscar Richards, born May 1, 1916, in Salt Lake City, Utah to John T. and Tyhra Richards passed away July 15, 2005 after a two year battle with cancer.
Dad was a businessman who owned and operated Richards Produce for years. He also owned and operated the Imperial 400 Motel in Salt Lake City which was located at 476 South State.
He often said he left a good 12 hour day business to take on a 24 hour a day business - what is wrong with this picture? Dad had a good sense of humor.
Last year he went to his high school reunion and said he was the only one there. Dad was a 32nd degree Mason and also a Shriner. He led tours at the Shriner's Children Hospital and was also in the patrol.
He loved to golf. Meadow Brook was his favorite course.
When he could no longer play he really missed his golf buddies, the employees who worked there. He was a loving father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Jack (Terry) Richards of Alpine, Utah, and Paul (Carol) Richards of Meridian, Mississippi; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
Also at his side was the love of his life, Florence Dangerfield, his life long companion, who was always with him giving constant love and care.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lois Ketchum, and Ruth Lindsley.
Funeral Services will be July 21, 2005, 11 a.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, where there will be a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
