John Alexander Bowles and his wife Mary Lue Conley Bowles both died of the Spanish Flu. They left six children, three were raised by Mary Bell (the oldest at 18 yr old who had just married), one by the grandfather and one by an aunt. The youngest was my mom who was three years old at the time.
