Ethel died so young - shortly following the 1930 US Census attached - of double lobar pneumonia at the tender age of eighteen, leaving a little son, Charles Thomas Benton, my brother.
My mother Thelma, Walter's second wife, raised and loved Charles as her own beloved child.
Ethel has a special place in my heart.
