Roy E. Jones, age 47, suffered a fatal heart attack and died at his home in Brownsburg on Thursday. He was a well-known Brownsburg mortician and a partner in the Jones & Matthews Mortuary there. He had been in the mortuary business for the past 23 years in Brownsburg and was affiliated with the Flanner & Buchanan Mortuaries prior to that time.
A native of Pittsboro, he was the son of the late Ernest Jones and Mrs. Beulah Jones who survives.
He attended Indiana University and was graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He was a member of the Burns Christian Church, Indianapolis Athletic Club and the National Funeral Directors Association.
Private services were conducted Saturday at the Jones & Matthews Mortuary with the Rev. Lester Yearick, pastor of the Brownsburg Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery.
Surviving with the mother are the widow, Mrs. Eloise Jones, and two daughters, Cindy and Jennifer, both at home.
