The son of Charles and Victoria Barone, he also attended the Catholic University of Puerto Rico at Ponce after his ordination and served in missionary work on the island. When he returned to Buffalo he served as Chaplain to migrants at the Spanish Apostolate. After this, he was named assistant pastor at Holy Cross, St. Ambrose, Annunciation, St. Louis, and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary parishes, all in Buffalo. He also served in several other assignments.
In 1981, Father Barone was appointed administrator of St. Anthony Church in Lackawanna, New York, and then became pastor from 1985 until 1998. In 1985, he also became part time chaplain of the Wende Correctional Facility, a position he held full time after January 1998 until the time of his death of complications after heart surgery.
A very colorful figure, he was a member of the American Red Cross Blood Program and the Polish Union of America.
