BARLOW RITES HELD MONDAY AT M. E. CHURCH

H. C. BARLOW, pioneer resident of Ochiltree County, died in Perryton on May 11 at the age of 84 years. Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon in the First Methodist Church with Rev. O. C. Curtis and Rev. Lloyd H. Jones in charge.

Mr. BARLOW came to Ochiltree County in 1907 and farmed southeast of Perryton until his retirement a few years ago. He and Mrs. BARLOW celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last fall, when scores of friends from this area came to pay their respects.

He had been quite ill for the past few weeks.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah, five daughters, Mrs. J. D. COPELAND and Mrs. George DIETRICH of Perryton, Mrs. E. C. BARNES, Mrs. Guy COOPER and Mrs. Guy GRUVER of Gruver; four sons, Robert, Harry, Alec and Leonard, all of Perryton; a sister, Mrs. Effa BARLOW, St. Louis; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers at the services were Harold KERSHAW, Henry PSHIGODA, D. C. WILSON, W. B. MAYS, Ray THOMAS and Andrew MILLEDGE.

Honorary pallbearers were Julius PSHIGODA, Otis SHEARER, W. E. McMILLEN, Fred HUSTON, Sam BURKHART, L. E. KING, Carl ELLIS and Henry CUTTER.

Interment was in the Ochiltree Cemetery.

Harry Clifford BARLOW was born to Elkanah and Mary BARLOW at Boonville, Missouri, on October 05, 1866. He was married to Hannah KULOW on September 29, 1889 at Lamine, Missouri.

They lived in Missouri until November, 1907, when they moved to Texas, locating on a farm about five miles northeast of the present site of Perryton, later moving to his farm seven miles southeast of Perryton.

In March 1944, he retired and moved to Perryton, living at 302 S.E. Cedar Street until his death.

He joined the Methodist church at the age 45 years, and in later years, when unable to attend church, was a regular listener over the radio.

Mr. and Mrs. BARLOW celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 29, 1949.
