Graveside services for Lura Phillips Hill, last surviving sister of the founders of the Phillips Petroleum Co., are set for 1 p.m. Friday in the El Dorado Springs, Mo., Cemetery. Hill, 98, died Tuesday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stanleys Funeral Service. Hill was one of Lewis and Lucinda Phillips' 11 children, who included well-known Oklahoma oilmen and philanthropists Frank and Waite Phillips. Frank Phillips, along with his brother, L.E., founded the Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1917. He died in 1950. He was also the founder of the Frank Phillips Foundation that has donated money to such groups as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA and Woolaroc. Waite Phillips, an independent producer, refiner and marketer of oil, donated his home which later became the Philbrook Art Museum. He died in 1964. A Creston, Iowa, native, Hill moved to Tulsa in 1923 with her late husband, Johnson D. Hill Sr., after spending 10 years in Bartlesville. He was the chairman of the executive committee at Atlas Life Insurance Co. in Tulsa. Hill was active in the Trinity Episcopal Church and the 20th Century Club. Survivors include two sons, Johnson D. Hill Jr., and Robert B. Hill, both of Tulsa; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
