Alan B. Henshaw, 68, a resident of the Dunreith community, died Tuesday, August 27 at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, following a brief illness.
Mr. Henshaw was born April 3, 1934 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Howard and Lucile Binford Henshaw and lived most of his life in the Dunreith area. A graduate of Spiceland High School in 1952, he served in the Army military police. Alan was a well-known farmer, a lifelong Republican and an avid sportsman, having refereed basketball games many years. He was a birthright member of the Spiceland Friends Church and attended Center Christian Church.
Alan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Ann Taylor Henshaw, whom he married August 4, 1962 in Owensville; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Henshaw of Dunreith; and six cousins.
His parents and an infant brother preceded him in death.
Funeral were held Saturday, August 31 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral, Lewisville Chapel in Lewisville with Rev. Bill Worrell and Rev. Sid Martin officiating. Burial was in the Dunreith Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, August 30 and prior to the services on Saturday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Spiceland Friends Church, Center Christian Church or to the Henry County Humane Society.
