Son of Charles and Camilla Bank Beckenhauer and was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. He graduated from West Point High School in 1933 and Creighton Law School in 1938. Kenny served in the US Army from January 1941 to January 1946, serving in the United States and Asiatic Pacific Theatre, being discharged with the rank of captain. On May 3, 1945, he married Louise E. "Betty" Lambrecht in Kansas. Kenny was associated with his father and three brothers in the law, real estate, insurance, abstract and loan business.

Kenny served on the State Republican Central Committee for eight years, ran for Congress in the early 1960's on the Republican ticket in the Nebraska 3rd dist., and was chairman for the Cuming County Goldwater for president campaign. He served as president and on several committees of the West Point Camber of Commerce. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Ikes, and Kiwanis. He belonged to St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as chairman, trustee, on the P.T.A., school board, and finance committee to name a few and was active in the Missouri Lutheran Synod. Kenny enjoyed sports, playing tennis and golf, swimming, basketball and bowling.

Survivors include his wife , Betty, of West Point, daughters Ann (George) Wimmer of West Point, Mary (Charles) Petersen of Fremont, sons Richard of San Anselmo , CA, Thomas of Oxnard, CA, James of Salt Lake City, UT, and Martin of Lake Tahoe, CA, brother Paul (Ruth) of West Point, sister Ethel Dorner of Battle Creek, MI, sister in law Blanche Beckenhauer of West Point, grandchildren Brent, Chad and Todd Petersen, Elliott and Andrew Wimmer, Rachel and Amanda Beckenhauer. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia Guretzky, Camilla Beckenhauer, brothers Robert, George, William, and Charles.
