Alice Alsup - unmarked grave - and her six year old daughter were killed 18 Aug 1928 Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock when a lumber truck hit the hack, driven by mules, that the Alsup family were going to Clarksville in, throwing these two underneath the rear wheels of the truck. Mr. & Mrs. Alsup and three children had just crossed a one-way bridge and were pulling to the right when the truck loaded with lumber, met them and the team swerved suddenly and the truck struck the fore-wheel of the hack, demolishing it and throwing Mrs. Alsup and daughter under the truck. They were rushed to the hospital, but were dead before medical attention could be reached. The truck was driven by Jack Mitchell of Paris who was placed under $500 bon to await the action of the grand jury. The family is known well throughout this section and have the sympathy of every one in this sad hour. The bodies were interred at Detroit Cemetery, Sunday afternoon, Dr. W.C. Carter conducted the services.
