James Albert Sydney Harris was born in Jenny Lind, Sebastion County, Arkansas. He was the son of Dr. Bunn Harris and Pearl Johnson Harris. James volunteered volunteered to serve in the RAS as a fighter pilot before the US entered the war. He was killed in an air battle over Nawinna, near Colombo, Sri Lanka, then British Ceylon. His parents in Oklahoma were notified by a notice from the American Foreign Service. He was survived by his parents and a sister Mary Harris.
