WATKINS, John W. 64, of Springfield, passed away, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in his residence. He was born June 28, 1945 in Urbana, OH, the son of Harry and Betty Jane (Karg) Watkins. John retired June of 2005 from Robbins Myers, after 39 years of service. He was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and especially enjoyed cooking out. John collected watches and clocks and loved spending time with family. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Watkins; sons, John W. (Mary) Watkins, Jr. of Springfield, Timothy A. Watkins of Springfield, Brian T. (Jane) Watkins, David M. (Jamie) Watkins and Anthony B. (Samantha) Travis; daughters, Sheila (Tom) Watkins of Springfield and Ashlee Lyons of New Carlise; 7 granddaughters; 5 grandsons; 1 great grandchild; brother, Henry (Erma Lee) Watkins of Russells Point; sister, Helen (Ernest) Chapman of Springfield; as well as several nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Wesley Watkins; brothers, Donald R. and Ronnie E.; sisters, Nancy Stayrook and Juanita Wells. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2010, in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Richard Travis officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Nettlecreek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
