Mrs. Effie Holben of Slippery Rock died at 4 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 9, 1965 in Grove City Hospital. She was aged 77 years, having been born Aug. 28, 1888 in Mudlic, Armstrong County, the daughter of Vernon and Mary (Shaffer) Mohney.
Mrs. Holben was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Chicora.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Holben, in 1949.
Surviving are three sons, John V. Holben of Cheyenne, Wyo., James H. Holben of Bridgeville and W. Dean Holben of Slippery Rock; four daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Pearle) Moore of Trotwood, Ohio, Mrs. Donald (Glendora) Payne of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Frank (Grace) Wolfe of Butler and Mrs. Bruce (Twyla) Adams of Bellevue; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Mohney of Uniontown and Percy Mohney of Salem, and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Hepler of New Bethlehem, Mrs. Annie Holben of Zelienople and Mrs. Rosie Slagle.
