She attended country school near Sargent. On March 29, 1932, Vera married William C. "Bill" Kaup at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple farmed before moving to Omaha, then Colorado, settling in West Point. They operated Kaup Produce until 1969. Vera lived at St. Joseph's retirement Community for 9 years until moving to West Point Living Center in September 2006. Vera's favorite pastime was braiding rugs.
Vera was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Guild.
Survivors include sons Donald Kaup of Lakewood, CO and Roland Kaup of Colorado Springs, CO, sisters Opal (Dale) Croson of Omaha and Mae Busch of Council Bluffs, IA and brother-in-law Devern Muller of Scribner. She is preceded in death by her husband William in 1972, son Robert, brother Leon and sisters Elva Mueller, Zona Burbach and Beth Muller.
