Harriet came to Oregon from Wisconsin in 1877-78 on the Oregon Trail with her mother and step-father, George and Sarah Sold, as chronicled in the Mary Riddle Diary. She married Philander Hall Bagley Oct 19, 1879 at the residence of F. Van Dusen, Esq. and settled in Knappa.

"Hattie" was the mother of four children: Julia, Walter, Lewiston, and Olive. She passed away at her niece's (Mary Almira Babbidge) home in Astoria, about 6 am on Feb 21, 1914 of valvular disease of the heart. She was survived by her husband, 4 children, three sisters, Mary Ann Wirt, Calista Stavely, and Cora Lisenby. She was preceeded in death by her father, Harvey Johnson (who was murdered while coming home from the California gold fields), her mother, Sarah Ann (Duerden) Johnson Sold, her sister, Jenette Cavett of Iowa, and her brother, Ernest Johnson, who died at age 6 in Minnesota, before the family came West.
