THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY COUSIN AND BEST FRIEND, JOHN RHODES. HIS DEATH WAS SUDDEN AND HIS ABSENCE LEAVES A VACANT SPOT IN MY LIFE!

John was born on January 8, 1946 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to Virgle Eugene Rhodes and BonJean and died on July 15, 2008 at 62 years of age. A graduate of Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, he served 20 years in the US Navy. After leaving the military, he worked at Martin-Marietta on the Space Shuttle Program and the Mars Mission. John loved scuba diving, building robots, storm chasing and astronomy...his nickname was StarMan. He resided in Denver, Colorado but his heart always remained in Kansas. His parents preceded him in death. He was generous, helpful to all and fun loving. He was cremated in Denver and brought back to Kansas by his sons for burial near his parents.

John thought he had the flu and drove himself to the hospital. Upon examine, it was discovered that he had a massive heart attack that had left a large hole in his heart. Surgery could not repair the damage from the heart attack and John never regained consciousness.
