WAR MOTHER, AGED 75, DIES IN CITY WED.
Lydia Jane Cummings Passes Away Wednesday.
Mrs. Lydia Jane Cummings, 75-year-old World War mother, four of whose five sons
served in the last great war, died Wednesday evening at 11:15 at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Roy Prince, 1130 west 5th street. Mrs. Cummings and her husband,
Robert E. Cummings, who survives her, came to Bloomington December 11 from their
home in Nashville for a short visit. Both, however, became ill and were unable
to return home. Mrs. Cummings gradually grew worse until her death.
Mrs. Cummings was born near Nashville seventy-five years ago and had lived all
her life in the community. She was the mother of seven children, all living.
Besides the daughter with whom she was living at the time of her death there
were five sons, Walter Cummings of Indianapolis, Cary of Nashville, John and Jen
of Idaho and Aldolphus of near Bloomington, and daughter, Mrs. Emery McConnell.
There are 42 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A twin sister, Mrs.
Louise Boland, of Nashville, with whom Mrs. Cummings had been closely associated
all of her life, survives her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the (Continued
