ARTHUR ISAAC ATKINSON, 61, DIES IN IOWA

Funeral and Burial At Queen City Tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Arthur Isaac Atkinson, 61, life-long resident of Queen City and veteran of World War I, died Monday in the Veterans Hospital at Des Moines, Ia. He had been a patient only one day.

The body is at the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City where it will remain until funeral time. Services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00, by the Rev. Hollis Bowen at the Queen City Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Queen City cemetery.

Bearers will be Willard McBee, Blake Talbert, Floyd Houston, Sam Slaughter, Leslie Burns and Nelson Gordy.

The son of John and Mary Shockley Atkinson, he was born April 12, 1896, east of Queen City. On May 14, 1927, he was married to Clorene Badger and to this marriage four children were born. One son, John Daniel, preceded him in death.

Surviving besides his wife of the home are: two sons, Robert, of Queen City and Charles, Elmira, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Mary Ann) Smith, West Burlington, Ia.; three brothers, Clarence, Hannibal, Charles, Camanche, Ia.; John, Glenwood, Mo.; six sisters, Mrs. Mayme Burgin of Queen City, Mrs. Charlie (Jennie) Giltner and Mrs. Lloyd (Erma) Clark, both of Ottumwa, Mrs. Paul (Edna) Ingalls, Hannibal, Mrs. Howard (Cora) Wagner, Madison, Wisc., Mrs. J.W. (Carrie) Johnson, Modessa, Calif., six grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews.
