Edward was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir, Knights of Columbus, Veteran of Foreign Wars, served on the Dodge Coop Board and Central Catholic School Board. He enjoyed playing cards, picnics and bowling, but his passion was spending time with his family.
Survivors include daughters Joann (William) Kreikemeier, Diane (Mark) Evert, and Judy (James) Perry all of West Point, Eileen (John) Chekal of Omaha and Karen (Jerome) Baumert of Howells, sons David of Lincoln, Gerald (Karen) of Dodge and Ralph (Mindy) of Wisner, 18 grandchildren, sister Ludovica (Richard) Baumert of West Point, brother Ray Meiergerd of West Point and a sister in law Ornitha Meiergerd of Dodge. He is preceded in death by his wife, Coletta, parents, brothers Reverend Godfrey Meiergerd and Aloysius "Alex" Meiergerd.
