Rev. Msgr. Harold Wagner, beloved son of John L. And Marie T. Hauser Wagner, was the longtime director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (Missions) of the Diocese of Buffalo.
He was a Buffalo native, a graduate of East High School, St. Bonaventure University and Christ the King Seminary at St. Bonaventure University.
Msgr. Wagner was a veteran of World War II, was ordained to the priesthood in 1955 and served as a chaplain in Deaconess Hospital, assistant pastor of SS. Peter & Paul in Hamburg and assistant pastor of St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Cheektowaga. He was assistant chancellor for the diocese from 1969 to 1975, served as chaplain to the Cantalician Center and was secretary to Bishop Head from 1973 to 1975.
He became director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith in 1974 and continued until his retirement in 2007.
