Jabez Stevens was born at Dartmouth, Bristol County, MA. He married SARAH ELLIS of Dartmouth May 16, 1777 at the First Congregational Church of Dartmouth. They had two sons: Ezra, born July 9, 1779 and Isaac born 1783. Jabez remarried after Sarah's death (1784) ESTHER BEMIS of Waltham MA in July 1784. Children: Mary, Eliza, Sylvia, Eunice, Elisha, Seth, William, Catherine, Josiah Bemis, Elizabeth Ann Warren, and Philip Henry Brazer. Jabez was a Revolutionary War patriot who first signed up in Fitchburg MA as a minute man 2 months after turning 17 yrs of age and marched to Lexington at the start of the war. He enlisted for 3 years and saw battle including Valley Forge PA. He and his second family migrated to Newark Valley NY.
