Abel was a vaudeville and minstrel show trouper billed as "The Man with the Mobile Face." He was in show business over 50 years and had played a blackface monologist for 10 years with the Primrose Minstrels. He also headlined on the Orpheum and Keith circuits. Abel toured the country with heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey and also worked with the Fanchon & Marco office in Los Angeles.
