William A. Sargent died at his home, 4526 South Tacoma avenue, yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock, at the age of 74 years. He was apparently in good health, although he complained at times of stomach trouble. His wife left him for a short time yesterday morning and about 11:30 a.m. his son-in-law, C. L. Hardy, a mail carrier, arrived at the house and found him lying unconscious on the floor. A doctor was immediately summoned, but could do nothing. Although not certain, it is thought that death was due to a hemorrhage.
Besides the widow, Mr. Sargent leaves four sons and three daughters: George E. Sargent, of Tacoma; W. Leo Sargent, of Seattle; Otis Sargent, of Seattle; William Sargent, of Ankeny, IA.; Mrs. A. A. Thomas, of Fern Hill; Mrs. O. L. Hardy, of Fern Hill, and Miss Clara Sargent, of Tacoma.
Funeral arrangements will not be made until William Sargent is heard from.
