Kenneth Terrell Hoffman was born on Valentine's Day in 1921 to Terrell "Dock" Hoffman and his wife Willie Clifford "Totsie" Mattison Hoffman in Young County, Texas. His family farmed for a living. He graduated high school from Graham, Texas,in 1940, and then attended business school before joining the Navy where he attained the title of Chief Petty Officer, First Class, before leaving the service in June 1945. He married Marie Pearl Menard in 1941 in Louisianna. They had two daughters: Sharalon Marie Hoffman Williams, born in 1944, and Jacquelyn Lucille Hoffman Striplin, born in 1949. The family moved to Seminole, Texas in 1955 from Houston, Texas. K.T. worked for his brother, D.G., in his oil well servicing business. K.T. eventually bought into the business and became a partner in Hoffman Oil Well Service Company. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Seminole Masonic Lodge 957. He served as Past Grand Master of the Seminole Lodge, and was also a member of the Eastern Star where he had served as Past Worthy Patron. He worked in the 11th Degree in the Lubbock Consistory of the Scottish Rite. In addition to the aforementioned fraternal orders, on June 5, 1978, Kenneth was knighted as a Companion of the Illustrious Order of the Red Cross, a Knight of Malta and a Knight Templar, and was a member of Odessa Commandery No. 110, K.T., stationed at Odessa, Texas, under the jurisdiction of the Grand Commandery of Texas. K.T. was presented with the Permian Basin Oil Man of the Year award in 1984. He enjoyed playing golf and hunting pheasant in Nebraska with his pals as well as being an avid Bible reader. He also enjoyed watching The Roadrunner and Pink Panther cartoons on Saturday mornings while drinking coffee in the comfort of his recliner. He was well known for his patience, generosity, sense of humor, and kind heart. There are not words enough to express the love and respect I have for this precious man who was my father. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. Kenneth succumbed to aspiration pneumonia and metastatic cancer after a lengthy recovery from a hemorrhagic stroke suffered in 1991.
