Obituary: "Mrs. Pauline Shumaker, 84, widow of Harry Shumaker and a lifelong resident of the Sumner community died at 3 P.M. yesterday at the Atchison hospital, where she had been a patient only a short time. Death was due to the infirmities of age.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Stanton & Stanton chapel. Burial will be in the Sumner cemetery.
Mrs. Shumaker was born November 7, 1863, at Sumner, a daughter of Louis and Mary Reichle, and was married on Christmas day, 1884. Mr. Shumaker's death occurred April 19, 1932.
Surviving are five children; Roy, Elsie and Edwin Shumaker of the home. Mrs. Albert Hanf and Frank Shumaker of the Sumner community. There are eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. " (Src: Atchison Daily Globe, February 14, 1947)
