Calvin E. Shelby Calvin E.Shelby, age 81 years, died peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 31 2010. Born in Soso, Miss. he has resided in Joliet since 1952. He retired from Hines V.A. hospital in 1985. He was a barber in Joliet for 60 years. He served as a deacon and member of health unit at Second Baptist Church. A member of Stone city Lodge #35 and the Beacon Club. Calvin is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Ethel Shelby; three children, Eartha Nicholson and Carl (Vanessa) Shelby both of Joliet and Edna (Rick) Lewis of Bloomington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, nieces, nephews cousins and a host of friends also survive. Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:00AM at Second Baptist Church with visitation 10:00-11:00AM Rev. Larry Tyler, officiating. Interment and Military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
