Cycle Mishap Takes Life of Abernathy Lad

Johnnie Clay Abernathy, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Abernathy of Iowa Park, was killed Saturday
afternoon when the motorcycle on which he was a passenger went into a ditch a mile north of Iowa Park on Johnson Road.

A 14 year old boy was driver of the motorcycle. He received emergency treatment at Wichita General hospital. Funeral service was conducted Monday afternoon in the church
of Christ by John Maples and Kale Martin. Burial was in Highland cemetery under direction of
Tanner-Aulds Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Terry Bailes, Carl Barnhill, Tommy Clark, Bob Dean, Tammy Hart, David Sumners.

Johnnie was born Feb. 4, 1960, in Dallas. He had resided here 5 years and was a fifth grade student at Kidwell.

Survivors in addition to his parents include a brother Russell Wyatt of the home, a sister Mrs.
Gweneth Schmidt of Iowa Park; grandparents Johnny Lee Brown of Kennedale and Mr. and Mrs. H. L Abernathy Sr. of Wichita Falls: and great - grandmother Mrs. G. B. Childress of Grapevine.
