Barbara was born in Loreauville, LA. to George and Monique DeCoux. She was raised in Port Arthur and was a 1953 honor graduate of Bishop Byrne High School. She attended Lamar Beaumont, and graduated with a masters degree in music and a B.S. in education. Barbara was an accomplished classical pianist, and music teacher. She married Richard Losey in 1958 and lived in Tucson, AZ until she returned to Port Arthur in 1972. She died of cancer on Dec. 10,1972 at age 37. She was survived by her parents, her children, Richard, Rebecca, Julieanne, Diana, and Mary Losey. Her brothers George, Joseph, and Michael DeCoux, and her sisters Theresa Messer and Lorena DeCoux. She was also survived by her "Nannie" Mary Rose Mouton.
