Fred M. Hammer, 85, 400 Lindweth Place, died today at Ball Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Hancock County and lived in Muncie since 1923. Prior to coming to Muncie he lived in New Castle and Rushville.
Mr. Hammer was an employee of Ball Brothers Co. for many years and later was employed at Ball Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are two sons, Roger H., New Castle, and James F., Muncie; a brother, Henry, Greenfield; three grandchildren, Stephen L. Hammer, Colonia, N.J., Andrew Hammer, Bluefield, W.Va., and Mrs. David Burns, Muncie, and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Meeks Mortuary after 2 p.m. Friday and before services there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Lewis Weber Gishler will officiate. Burial will be in McCray Cemetery at Wilkinson.
