Rosemary Goodwin
Rosemary Goodwin, 78, of Nauvoo, Ill., died at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Nov. 8, 1931, she was the daughter of Frank and Afton Hinkley Badger. On Aug. 29, 1955, she married Glenn Lavern Goodwin in Salt Lake City. He died April 27, 2005.

Mrs. Goodwin worked as a kindergarten teacher. She attended Millard High School in Filmore, Utah, and studied to be a teacher at Brigham Young University. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Church. She volunteered much of her time in the Mormon temples and was a temple matron in Chicago, greeting visitors to the temple and supporting brides and wedding guests. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing her children's clothes by hand and making baptismal gowns, temple dresses and designing patterns. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking bread, gardening, canning and humor. She enjoyed listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and watching the Brigham Young television channel.


Survivors include one son, Mark Goodwin of Milford, Ohio; four daughters, Cathryn Wasiura of Spring Lake, Mich., Ruth Goodwin of Corning, N.Y., Alysha Goodwin of Dearborn, Mich., and Christine Franck of St. Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and three siblings, George Badger, Frank Badger and Jessie Marker.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home in Nauvoo, Ill., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Goodwin will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo with Bishop Chris Church officiating. Burial will be in Nauvoo City Cemetery in Nauvoo.

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Haiti.
