Mr. Ballard died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday in a local hospital.
A resident of Oakdale most of his life and a charter member of Mount Hope Baptist Church, he was a retired law enforcement officer. He was the first chief of police for the City of Oakdale, serving two terms as Ward 5 Marshal and was s deputy Sheriff for Allen Parish.
Survivors are seven sons, Coleman C., olin, and A.D. Ballard, all of Lake Charles; Curtis Ballard of Deer Park, Texas, and Gerald, Tommy and Robert Ballard, all of Oakdale; one daughter, Mrs. Glenda Navarre of Oakdale; one brother Col. DeWitt Ballard of Thousand Oaks, California; one sister, Mrs. Dovie Wiggns of Oakdale; 32 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren.
