John Findlay Torrence Isham. Known as Torry to all who knew him. Spent the 1888-1891 time period as a surveyor on the railroad working as far west as Idaho. When he returned he married Emma Knaggs on 6/28/1892, the woman he had fallen in love with at 18. She was 4 years older and he felt he had to prove himself. At the time they met he was teaching school at the school in Bailey OH. They resided at the Isham farm which is now 8460 Anthony Wayne Trail. Their two children were born there and Maria died there. In about 1917 they moved to 33 S fifth st in Waterville. In 1930 they move to 115 Farnsworth Rd a house they had built for themselves. They both died there in 1933 he of heart problems she of a broken heart according to her daughter Wealthy May. Torry earned a living farming and surveying. He was a avid photographer documenting much of the Waterville area including the building of the trolley bridge and the great flood. Many of the historic photos he took are still in the family.
