Emma Shimerda was born in Oxford township June 22,1868, and passed away to her Heavenly Home Wednesday night, December 30,1903.On April 19, 1886 she was married to George Wosoba, one of the prosperous farmers of this locality, to which union three children were born, two boys and one girl.Mrs. Wosoba has always been a most, kind, patient and loving wife and mother, always self-denying when the comfort and pleasure of her family was in the balance. She was one of the examples of Noble womanhood which what we can ill-afford to have removed from our midst, but her Maker has called her to her reward in the unknown world. In her loss, the family loses one who has ever been watchful over them, the husband, a loving and sympathetic wife, and her friends a generous and forgiving neighbor.
About two years ago, this tumor that finally caused her death started to grow in the region of her abdomen. She suffered the dread of an operation in silence, never intimating to her family or parents the fact until a month ago when she informed her husband of its presence. An operation for its removel was necessary, and the operation meant death for her. She was taken to the Sanitarium at Anamosa where the tumor was removed on Tuesday morning, she gradually recovering and by Wednesday evening was feeling considerably improved. Mr. Wosoba came home on the evening train expecting to return the next morning, but during the night received word that she has passed away. Her remains were brought here for burial, interment being made Saturday morning. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.k. Bioarn of this city and Rev. Mekota, of Cedar Rapids, the services being in charge of the Z.C.B.J. lodge of which she was a member.
She leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband and three children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Shimerda, brothers and sisters, and a host of friends. The number of friends who followed her remains to their last resting place shows the esteem in which she was held. The Mirror joins in extending sympathetic hand in this hour of their bereavement.
