Capt Arthur V. Burholt was the Athletic Director at Port Clinton High School when he entered federal service as a member of C Company, 192nd Tank Battalion. He was reassigned to Hq Company when the company was formed in January, 1941. He survivied the Japanese attack on Clark Airfield in the Philippine Islands and became a POW on April 9, 1942. He was held as a POW at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan. He was sent to Japan on the Oryoku Maru and survived the sinking of the ship. He was then placed onto the Brazil Maru, which was also sunk. He died of wounds on Janaury 20, 1945. His name appears on the Tablets of the Missing at the American Military Cemetery at Manila.
